Not all modular companies follow the International Building Code as they should. The International Building Code is used in 47 states plus Washington DC. Most on a state wide level and some on a local level.
It is National Partitions' desire to educate buyers on the code issues that are faced when engineering or designing modular structures, therefore allowing them to make safe and informed decisions.

We believe that following the building codes is not an option, it is an obligation. Since the wide acceptance of the IBC, It has never been easier to follow the guidelines set forth by the code.
Unfortunately, many companies still provide products that are not compliant and not allowed. One such example is a hardboard wall system with a polystyrene core. The reason this product does not comply with the code can be found in chapter 26, under thermal barriers. As a flammable material the building code requires this product to be protected with a minimum 15 minute thermal barrier. This is typically 1/2" gypsum. Hardboard does not meet that requirement.
What many fail to realize is that when a state adopts the building code it enacts legislation to do so. Simply put, the building code is the law. With that comes the authorization to enforce the law and the penalties for violations. Knowingly breaking the law could be construed as negligence, which could have serious liability consequences.
