Non-Bearing vs Bearing walls
Our Non-Bearing Wall Design Meets Building Codes
According to chapter 6 of all major building codes, load bearing walls in type 1
& 2 construction plus structural elements must have hourly fire rated
designs.
National Partitions' design uses a complete structural steel frame. Note the
steel supports on the end walls and the use of concealed columns. This design
allows the walls to be non-load bearing, thus eliminating the need for fire
rated walls per chapter 6 of all major building codes.

The design below is typically provided by our competitors. It places the load on
the walls thus making them load bearing and therefore are required to have
hourly ratings. The problem? They do not have hourly rated systems and have not
done the required fire tests.

Summary: The difference is obvious. National Partitions design is more
substantial and code compliant. Which design would you feel safer with?
